Thanks to its new design and its new structure IFCCI’s new website allows you to discover what it truly is and all the possibilities it may offer.

After a nice introduction picture and a little animation with the main aims of the Chamber, you can enter the website and get as much information as you want about us, Indonesia or France and about our services to companies.

In deed, through the new structure, you are going to discover how nice the new chamber is, with its offices, its gardens and the rooms of the business center where companies can make their important meetings happen.

Most of all, you will also be able to see what the exhibition room look like in a little flash video and how equipped the rooms which welcome the trainees are.

Of course, now you can also see who works here and who the members of the IFCCI team are and, in addition to that, you can directly send your CV and your cover letter through the website.

Last but not least, to make communication more easy between organizations, companies and other corporations, the IFCCI forum has been created. It is rather new so don't even bother to suscribe here

The 30th of May, the IFCCI proposed to her members and friends to come and take a breakfast in the Hotel Sofitel
Gran Mahakam, with presence of Her Excellency Ambassador Angelic C. Del Castillo, and also Mr. Jean Paul Peterschmitt from the Mission Economique.

The speaker was Mr. Didik Taryadi, as the head of Trademark Examiner in DGIPR. Indeed, the General Director Intellectual Property wrights, Dr. Abdul Bari Azed, couldn’t make it because he had an urgent meeting with the Ministry of the Department of Law and Human Rights.

The topic of the presentation was about the protection of Trade Mark in Indonesia: an overview of the Madrid Protocol for International Registration of Mark, witch is soon to be ratified by Indonesia.

But several important questions from the guests were inquired; here is an abstract of the Questions and Answers sesion:

  1. Can Indonesia adjust with the Madrid System which is with advance technology and computerization; while Indonesia recent system is currently still a disorder?
  2.  If Indonesia ratifies Madrid Protocol, the role of IP Consultant will be really limited. Moreover, the IP License is mandatory for IP Consultants. So why should they take a license which takes 6 months of courses and costs 20 million Rupiah?
  3. When will Indonesia ratify Madrid Protocol?

ANSWERS:

  1. According to Mr. Didik Taryadi, as the head of Trademark Examiner in DGIPR, Indonesia has no difficulties adjusting with Madrid Protocol.  Since Madrid Protocol is only procedural process (simplifying the procedural) and the substantive examination will be done in accordance to the National law.

And based on his experiences as the head of Trademark Examiner in DGIPR, substantive examination can be move forward with Madrid Protocol since it is operated with computerization. And all the certification will be done by WIPO as international Bureau.
Indonesia is facing difficulties with the Certification printing, which per year could reach approximately 50.000 trademarks.
Furthermore, Madrid Protocol is really flexible, since it gives the Examiner 18 months of substantive examination. And if within 18 months the Examiner has not finish the examination than the Trademark will be granted automatically.

  1. Although the role of IP consultants is going to be limited as an agent to help foreign applicant to register the Trademark in Indonesia, there are any refusal of any trademark than the foreign applicant should appoint a proxy in Indonesia. And this is where IP Consultants will have a great role.
  1. Currently, the new Trademark Law is being drafted. This new law is schedule to be in the parliament in the end of year 2007. Therefore, the ratification is probably in the near future.

All the IFCCI Staff hope to see you soon on next Breakfast Meetings…

On last Friday 24th of May, the IFCCI organized a very beautiful Cabaret Dinner in co-operation with CCF, in the Restaurant Oasis, Jakarta.
Most of the guests were French, from more than seventy French companies.

At the beginning of the evening, all our guests were offered a delicious welcome drink.

After an opening speech from our Chairman Mr. Mignon, the tables were sat with sophisticated decorations and flowers, and we were served with fine dinning.

The meal was very tasty, cooked by a chef from Switzerland.

During the dessert, the group Hot Couture came to play all old French songs (by Serge Gainsbourg, Edith Piaf, Brigitte Bardot etc), remixed in an electronic way…with the amazing voice of Liza Michael…

A real pleasure for the whole IFCCI Staff and their guests, who hope to see you soon in their next events occasions.…

As the book « Ribuan Gunung, Ribuan Alat Batu » (which can be translated as “Thousand mountains, thousand sorts of stones”) is out now in stores, IFCCI organized a book launching in its offices in Jakarta on May 09th, 2007.
This reception allowed the French archeologist and writer Hubert Forestier to meet, among others, the French Ambassador in Indonesia her Excellency Mrs Catherine Boivineau.
The  author invites us to have a journey through time : 8000 years ago, in the Song Keplek Cave which is near Pacitan at Sewu Mountain (East Java). This book is aimed at experts, students and those more interested in stone artefacts found in Java island and generally in Southeast Asia.
