Taking place in Intercontinental Hotel, Jakarta on Tuesday, February 26th 2008, IFCCI organized a joint business luncheon with Britcham, Ekonid, Eurocham and INA.
More than 50 people from different business fields and levels gathered to get information from our speaker, Mr. Ir. Agus Tjahajana Wirakusuma,Se.,M.Sc, The Secretary General of Department of Industry.
Mr. Ir. Agus Tjahajana Wirakusuma,Se.M.Sc presented Indonesia Industry Policy which includes the brief explanation regarding the current economic condition, facts and development process, policy direction, policy measure and business & investment policy.
Decree of INPRES No.6 Year 2007 issued by the government in order to accelerate the economic growth, and to cope with unemployement and poverty problems.The policy itself contain of four important measures :
- Reviving the investment climate
- Reforming the financial sector
- Accelerating Infrastructure development
- Accelerating SME’s development
During the presentation, the speaker mentioned that selected industries are intensively promoted in order to increase capacity, strengthen the industrial structure, and to improve the over all competitiveness.
Overall summary of the presentation mentioned that despite of the slow downing of the world major economies, Indonesia is expected continuously growth and will always represents a promising place to invest. With almost 20% of EU’s share of Foreign Direct Investment in Indonesia, EU is playing an important role in Indonesia Economic Development.
At the end of the lunch-meeting, everyone could feel free to discuss a bit longer with the Secretary General and ask him questions to get quick and clear answers.
