20th Nov. 2007: BKPM Expo

On November 20, 2007, IFCCI had the opportunity to participate in the event of Indonesia Integrated Investment Promotion 2007 in JW Marriot Rive Gauche Hotel et Conference Center – Paris, France.

This event was accommodated by The Investment Coordinating Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BKPM) and supported by The Indonesian Embassy in France and The Indonesian French of Chamber and Commerce (IFCCI) and it was opened by The Ambassador of the Republic Indonesia of France, Mr.H.E.M.Arizal Effendi, Chairman of IFCCI, Mr.Alain-Pierre MIGNON, Head of Asia Desk of CCIP, Mr. Roger BACRI and Vice Chairman of BKPM, Mr.Darmawan Djajusman .
The aim of this event is to improve the investment climate and business opportunities in Indonesia by inviting French potential investors. It is a good moment to improve even furthermore of Indonesia-France business-investment relations.

A side to all day exhibitions from 33 Indonesian provinces on their investment opportunities which French investors can directly meet and have discussions with participants from 33 provinces, the seminars and panel discussion were also held in parallel.

The Governor of Banten Province, Mrs Hj.Rt. Atut Chosiyah, visited the exhibition:

The seminar itself was delivered by Vice Chairman of BKPM, Mr.Darmawan Djajusman with the topic of “Strengthening Investment Relations between Indonesia and France.” BKPM’s data mentioned that there are 124 projects of investment realizations from France for the period of 1990- September 2007, with total investment of USD 1.041.8 Million which varies from 5 major sectors of Transport, Storage & Communication, Trade & Reparation, Electricity, Gas & Water, Hotel & Restaurant and Chemical & Pharmaceutical Industry. Based on BKPM’s data, it appears that
DKI Jakarta, West Java, North Sumatera, Banten and East Java are the major locations of French investment realization.

By performing all the investment opportunity from 33 provinces of Indonesia in the exhibition, it is hoped that French Investor will look in on other parts of Indonesia as their new investment locations which are also potential on this followings sectors:

  1. Natural-resource-based: agro-industry, mineral extraction & mining, fisher & marine product processing, forestry products etc
  2. Rubber, rubber goods, plastic and paper goods manufacturing
  3. Automotive, machinery, electronics and information communications & technology (ICT)
  4. Construction, hotel & restaurant, shipping and services
  5. Automotive supporting industries

The event was successfully closed by a dinner reception which presented the Indonesian rich culture through dancing and Angklung music performances that amused all the invitees.

 

23rd Nov. 2007: JOURNEE PAYS

During our visit to Paris, IFCCI also attended the JOURNEE PAYS ASIE which were held by the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris (CCIP) on November 23, 2007.

The purpose of this occasion is to gather the French companies and the Chambers from Asian countries, namely Cambodia, South Korea, India, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia in order to have information, guidance and discussion regarding business opportunities in each Asian country.

On this occasion, IFCCI has the opportunity to meet, to explain and to discuss about investment opportunity in Indonesia to more than 12 French companies from various business lines who are interested to seek business opportunity in Indonesia by finding distributors, agents or direct investment.

This Journee Pays activity which regularly held and accommodate by CCIP, was a big chance for Chambers from Asian countries to meet and have fruitful discussion on each host countries business and investment opportunity, as well as enhancing networking and good relationship.
