Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN Indonesia) together with National Board of Placement and Protection of Indonesian labor (BNP2TKI) signed the Memorandum of Understanding, by The chairman of KADIN Mr. Muhammad S. Hidayat and head of BNP2TKI, Mr. Muhammad Djumhari Hidayat.

 

"Our economic conditions are still not conducive enough to creating more jobs. So if we can't make any breakthroughs the unemployment rate will remain high," Hidayat said.

 

Monday, 13 August 2007 in KADIN building South Jakarta.

 

BNP2TKI is a non-department government board with the implementation policy in placing and protection Indonesian labor in overseas, in both way of well coordinated and integrated. This year BNP2TKI was focusing on expanding the job opportunity for Indonesian labor in abroad in to higher level function. BNP2TKI will concentrate on the effort by applying 3 sub systems such as;

  1. Standard of competence
  2. Competence-based implementation
  3. Certificate of competence

 

The MOU is created to support the government efforts to overcome the issue of unemployment. KADIN Indonesia sees the program of placement and protection in overseas as one of good solutions which needed to be developed. The opportunity of job vacation in abroad should be expanded. It was mentioned that the income from Indonesian labor devisa reached the amount of US$10 billion, and 1 million labor are placed in numbers of countries. BNP2TKI implements this program by giving training in cooperation with private companies or institutes.

BNP2TKI chairman Moh Jumhur Hidayat  added that there was significant demand for Indonesian workers overseas, citing as an example Qatar's recent request for 63,000 Indonesian laborers to work in its booming energy industry.

KADIN together with BNP2TKI and International networks is highly expected will successfully bring the bright future for the nation.
